Miser Ebenezer Scrooge is awakened on Christmas Eve by spirits who reveal to him his own miserable existence, what opportunities he wasted in his youth, his current cruelties, and the dire fate that awaits him if he does not change his ways. Scrooge is faced with his own story of growing bitterness and meanness, and must decide what his own future will hold: death or redemption. Based on the 1994 stage musical by Alan Menken and Lynn Ahrens, which was inspired by Charles Dickens' 1843 novella.
Christmas in July Movie #20 🎄🏖️
I haven’t watched this movie since it first premiered in 2004 on NBC. I think it was sometime in November. I have memories of certain scenes, but honestly the only thing I remembered was that I liked it and that it wasn’t received all that great. I gotta say after this rewatch I completely dug it all the more. I really liked how this looked and felt very much like it would have on the stage. Obviously it’s got the special effects and size of something for television, but it had an old fashioned feel to it. Loved the music, the performances were okay, the sets were pretty decent, and the costumes were just serviceable. There’s nothing amazing about this production, but I had a real good time watching. Honestly I think it was the old school feel and music. It’s one number after another and you just go with it.
