Catch A Christmas Star (2013)

Synopsis:
Nikki Crandon is one of the biggest pop stars on the planet. Whether she's singing the National Anthem or promoting her latest album, everyone knows who she is—none more so than New Jersey high school basketball coach and widower Chris Mitchell, who was Nikki's first love in high school. When Chris' 10-year-old daughter Sophie finds out her dad still has feelings for the singer, she takes matters into her own hands. With her 8-year-old brother Jackson in tow, Sophie succeeds in reuniting the two. Christmas in July Movie #14 🎄🏖️

So I went searching for old school holiday movies from Hallmark I've never seen, and I'm not sure this aged well. Shannon Elizabeth plays a famous singer who's had a decades long lasting love for her high school sweetheart who dumped her cause he failed at his baseball career. So while this successful, kind, and famous lady carries the never ending torch for this dude he marries another. Two children later he becomes a widow. You know there's always gotta be a dead parent and spouse in Christmas movies. His daughter hooks these two back up, and he's an ass hat. This successful woman has to apologize for being famous and other people's wrongs while continuing to pine for this loser.

Had I watched this in 2013 I might of liked it mainly because I wasn't Christmas movie obsessed and hadn't watch hundreds of these stories. I might be slightly overreacting about this movie, but not really. Maybe it was all that bad singing that was nails on a chalkboard for me. Or maybe it was because I watched an absolutely shitty quality on YouTube. Or maybe it's because I don't know the power of high school love. I never did meet my soulmate at fifteen. Nah.

My Rating: ⭐⭐
