A proper Edwardian lady patiently endures the ever-increasing disruption to her quiet household when her Truelove gives her all the items from the song "The Twelve Days of Christmas."
A delightful musical comedy depicting a man giving his beloved all the gifts from the song 'On the Twelve Days of Christmas'. This poor woman has to deal with a houseful of animals and people, at first eagerly awaiting her love and then dreading it. Her butler is having none of it. It's really witty, and funny, and cute. I wish the quality of the film on YouTube was better, but I'm just happy I got a chance to watch it. Loved the production design, very colorful. The Edwardian setting was a nice touch. No one had speaking parts, they mime all of their interactions to music and the famous Christmas song. I did feel bad for the cows and doves as they were painted with colorful patterns, but this movie was made in 1955 so if that's gonna severely bother anybody I'd say skip it.
Wendy Toye directed, wrote, choreographed, and starred in this film but somehow was still second billed. Nominated for and Oscar in 1956, Best Short Subject, Two-reel.
