Synopsis:
Dug into that Hallmark vault to watch something I’ve never watched before. I kept missing this one so I can finally cross this sucker off the list. This movie is a little bonkers, and I defiantly remember how it was a pilot of sorts. The movie was potentially gonna start a franchise featuring Nicollette Sheridan’s reporter character Charlotte Hart. Charlotte is too cool for school, and apparently amazing at everything she does. She’s back in her hometown helping out her family when a dastardly real estate dude is trying to buy the town for redevelopment. One day they get into a car accident and they both become comma ghosts. The only person who can talk to them is spirit whisperer Olympia Dukakis. Needless to say this goes like you’d expect with saving the whatever needs saving, falling in love, and working on their own issues. So like Charlotte is so cool with being a ghost, nothing fazes her and that bugged me. Like have at least one freak out moment. The dude is a major pain. Absolutely no chemistry between the two. Any who this movie ends on a happy note as all Hallmark movies do, but Charlotte has a plot development that screams sequel.
Even though this was a potential movie series starter it completely works as a stand alone. I don’t think this movie did all that well when it premiered. I know it gave late into the season that year, and late in the season for Hallmark is December. Back then they didn’t do a thousand movies though. I really miss when Hallmark did the fun fantasy or magical holiday movies. Now it’s all the same ‘ole romances and dramas. I wouldn’t say this movie is great, it’s just fine. I mean you’ll watch it and forget it tomorrow, but you could watch worse. The plus is Olympia Dukakis.
My Rating: ππ½
