Christmas in July 2020 Movie #2
This was interesting. I missed this when it originally aired on UpTV, but I can’t help feeling after watching that this was a potential pilot. It screams it, what with all the set up that lasted the entire film. Three lifelong friends get back together during Christmas to help each other start over, give dating advice, deal with bratty tweens, help deal with a scoundrel of a husband, be there for each other, and save a house. It’s kinda slow going but the character development is really strong. Had some heavy issues for a Christmas movie, dysfunctional childhoods and so forth. I mean it’s still family friendly viewing, just not so watered down. All three actresses worked well together and had great chemistry. Good cast, solid acting, well made, and an enjoyable watch. I really didn’t need the one year later segment for the last two minutes of the film, just reiterates my thoughts on this being a pilot movie for a potential series. Felt like the movie gave us two endings. Or an ending and then a starting point when the series might take place. It's not unusual to get a one year later segment at the end of Christmas movies, just wasn't really needed as the film had a strong end point outside of that. With all that said it stands alone just fine as a TV movie. I enjoyed it.
My Rating: 🌟🌟🌟
Where to Watch: Up Faith & Family / Pluto TV / Tubi / Hulu
