๐ 2021 Christmas Binge Watch Movie #5 ๐
Loretta Devine is a national treasure, she is always a joy to watch, and as usual the scene stealer of a movie. I enjoyed this, loved all the choir stuff, the music was joyous, and while the storyline has been done a few times over the cast really brought a lot of joy and fun to their performances. This movie really has all the check marks for a holiday movie. We've got the haven't been home for the holidays in a while, problems at work, figuring out your dreams, your high school sweetheart being the high point of your love life, your momma trying to set you up, your mama meddling in your life, family, music, cheer, helping to give back, a very last minute obstacle to a potential romance, and a surprising save the something thrown in. In all seriousness I did like this movie. It was full of heart, good chemistry, likable characters, it was funny, had good music, and did not go overboard on the drama. Absolutely a solid Christmas movie.
