Christmas in July 2020 Movie #8

I’m pretty sure this was the movie Hallmark ditched airing last holiday season and then it landed at Showtime. It feels kinda like a Hallmark movie yet it doesn’t have that Hallmark sheen despite it’s family friendliness.

This Ashley chick is questionable. We’ve got the familiar plot of BFFs not knowing they are in love while fake dating as one tries to break up an ex’s relationship to get back together all set during the week before Christmas. I can’t believe this is a genre of movies. Any who this Ashley chick is obsessed with her ex boyfriend who she hasn’t seen or spoken to in a decade. She thought her magic glow would make him want her again instantly. She needs help more than she needs a boyfriend. The acting is not good outside of Beth Broderick and Trevor Eve. They are giving nothing to do as Ashely’s parents, they just in the background. I totally forgive Trevor Eve’s British accent breaking through here and there as I’ve been a fan of his forever. The story is predictable, nothing makes it stand out from the other movies just like this. I mean it doesn’t have to stand out, it could have at least been fun. Not the worst holiday film I’ve seen. It’s not good either. This is the type of movie you watch while cleaning your house or doing laundry.

My Rating: ⭐⭐
