๐ŸŽ„ 2021 Christmas Binge Watch Movie #3 ๐ŸŽ„

I love this movie. It's so well made and thought out that I'll forgive Luke Macfarlane forgetting he started the movie with a country accent before he dropped it completely. I'll even forgive his singing. Before the first commercial break this movie deals with the loss of a mother, the loss of a wife, a single father raising his daughter, sage advice from grandma, and celebrating not only Christmas but Hanukkah too. This movie was far more realistic than I thought it'd be while still being a feel good holiday film. Loved the cast, and solid chemistry between all the actors. After watching the first two Hallmark holiday films I have to say this one was leaps above them. Not only in terms of story, but it looked far better visually. This movie looked like they spent a little more money on it, and that house was to die for. I enjoyed the slow build between Beth and Sean, felt a lot more believable. I loved the father daughter relationship, not always perfect but the love and respect was there. Sometimes in these movies there's insta connection between the eventual love interest and the child of the other potential love interest, but the relationship and bond that Beth and Katie had was far more realistic. Sure Beth is teaching Katie the violin, but they have so much in common. They both have lost their mothers, they love classical music, they are both biracial, and they are both black daughters who were raised or being raised by white fathers. I'd say this movie is far more grounded than the usual holiday fare. Don't get me wrong it's still a tad out there with a country star and classical violinist starring at each other with heart eyes in a small town, but it's still a sweet movie. I really appreciate that the movie doesn't go melodramatic, and that nobody gives up their dreams or way of life just to appease who they fall in love with. It's really what you might want from a Christmas movie that isn't fantastical. We've got family, friendship, romance, music, and Christmas cheer.

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐½
