🎄 2021 Christmas Bing Watch Movie #1 🎄

Okay, I'm always pretty easy on the first movie out of the gate for the holiday season. That said I thought this movie was just fine. The actors had chemistry, so I bought that insta love. The meet cute was funny, there's Christmas festivities galore, and likable characters. The mothers chastising their single children for not dating never gets old for me. I did find that for a Hallmark movie this was sorely lacking in Christmas decorations. Usually it's wall to wall, but the decorating looked like how normal folks would do it. No Balsam Hill sponsorship this year. Any who, story wise this was okay, not the most exciting. Figuring out what was making the trees sick was kinda interesting and different. There's a lot going on plot wise. McKellar's character is desperately trying to avoid her family's stuffy holiday traditions and embracing the much more cheerful celebrating of caroling, baking, and what we see everybody do in all Christmas movies. You know different ways of celebrating a holiday is okay, but apparently these grown people needed to learn that. Plus she has a broken engagement, so familiar territory for a holiday romance. There's also a Wonder Years reunion as Jason Hervey plays a small role of the competing Christmas Tree Lot rival. That side story was pretty predictable, and again not really fleshed out. I wish a little more time was devoted to it, but you know the main focus is the two leads falling for each other and doing holiday stuff. I disliked the last minute obstacle preventing our couple from finally being happy, it was anti climatic and kinda dumb. That said, the movie is fine enough. Looks pretty decent, it's pretty average, you know where it's going. I will say one thing, please do not bake Christmas ornaments into cakes like they do in this movie, that don't seem safe to me. I mean it might be, I ain't buying it though.

Side note here. Oh snap, do I have to explain Wonder Years to some? That was a great show that aired in the late eighties to early nineties about a family growing up during the sixties. Danica McKellar played Winnie, who was an on again off again love interest/friend to Fred Savage's Kevin. Jason Hervey played Wayne, Kevin's brother. I loved that show as a kid, and it's old so I know not everybody knows about it.

My Rating: ⭐⭐½
