🎄 2021 Christmas Binge Watch Movie #42 🎄
I always seem to miss Hallmark’s Christmas concerts. I missed the one with Jewel, Amy Grant, and Mariah Carey’s. Well this was on Netflix, and leaving on December 8, so I thought I might as well watch it. Back in 2015 Mariah Carrey directed a Christmas movie for Hallmark, “A Christmas Melody,” which is actually pretty good. If you pay real close attention to all of Mariah’s scenes in that movie she is clearly all by herself. She filmed all her scenes with nobody and then inserted them into the movie. You can tell because they feel so off, and the background doesn’t really fit with the set. She’s never standing by any of the actors. Her body double/stand-in is very noticeable. Nobody’s ever admitted it, but it’s pretty obvious. That always makes me chuckle. Any who, back to this special. Mariah sings a bunch of Christmas songs wearing a different dress for each performance. She’s performing to a small group of people in a small room, it’s got a very intimate feeling. Mariah tells you what she loves about Christmas, and there’s a running storyline of everybody waiting for Santa. Guests stars include Lacey Chabert and Brennan Elliott who were in Mariah’s holiday movie. Cameron Mathison is interviewing them about it. Kelsey Grammer reads to the kiddos “A Night Before Christmas” at super speed. Mariah duets with Babyface, pimps her kids book, and closes the special with her most famous song ever, "All I Want for Christmas is You." Overall I thought this special was fine, and Mariah sounded pretty good.
