I really do wish this movie did not include the romance between the parents, it wasn't really necessary. Maybe because it felt a little under developed, it could've still been about a man realizing he wants to spend more time with his children. The family aspect and drama of it all was enough. We've got a mom struggling with the idea of letting her autistic son go to a school and be on his own. That struggle was so believable, she's been his primary source of care for most of his life, she loves him and doesn't want him to be hurt. She's his mom, of course she's gonna worry about him, and love him enough to do what's best. The daughter feeling a little neglected and under appreciative is also believable, as is her guilt for feeling that way because she knows her brother is autistic. We've got wise grandma trying to help everybody, even the owners of the Inn they're staying at overcome their grief over the loss of a loved one. There's a lot going on here, but it works and it's sincere.
