Oy. The premise of this film is promising. We’ve got two people stuck in a forest fire. A forest ranger helping out a geologist and her dog, but obstacles are at every turn, even a bear. Meanwhile we’ve got the forest ranger’s sister sitting the entire movie in the cockpit of a plane searching. The mom is either talking on a radio or behind the wheel of the car. The fellow forest ranger spends her time looking out binoculars and fretting. This is a low budget film, you can’t expect much, but I never thought they were in any trouble. They’re either sitting in a set made to look like two different cabins, on rocks by a lake, or running around in circles in the same spot of woods with a smoke machine or CGI smoke. I’m nitpicking, but the chemistry is meh, and the acting is even more meh. They had the balls to do a montage close to the end of the movie showing us everything we saw already. Like we gotta tell the viewer that’s how they fell in insta love. Like we watched this movie, we know.
