When this movie started I thought it was gonna be a spoof on all things music biz and reality shows, but nope. Instead we get a drama about redemption and God. That's completely fine, but I found all the comedy, drama, hand wringing, and musical numbers all over the place. Tonally this movie was everywhere and anywhere. One minute it's slapstick, the next hardcore melodrama. It doesn't particularly look good, the acting isn't great, and the music was so so. They definitely had a vision for this movie, but in the end they didn't pull it off. The best parts of this film were the scenes with Marsha Williams and Luenell, they delivered the dry wit and burns like nobody else. There's promise in this movie somewhere, but it didn't fully land for me.
My Rating: ⭐½
Where to Watch: VH1, Prime Video
