๐ 2021 Christmas Movie Binge Watch #35 ๐
I found this movie utterly charming. Sure there might not be much to it, two sisters pretending to be other people decorating a castle for a party in Ireland, and possibly falling in love. They spend the entire movie lying, and planning a party, and flirting, and I was on the edge of my seat waiting for the ball to drop and everybody finding out the truth. I was like I hope he forgives her knowing full well I was watching a Hallmark movie. The movie ends a little too conveniently, but I didn't mind it since I had such a good time watching. When the sisters decide to go to Ireland after getting fired, they're sitting in this beautifully decorated apartment. I was like how can they afford that, let alone find a space that big in New York. I wish we got to see more of Ireland since this was filmed entirely there, but the shots we did get of the landscape and countryside were lovely. The castle was gorgeous, I loved how it was decorated for the holiday party, it looked so charming and inviting. I was surprised at how humorous this movie was, and I think that added to my enjoyment. There's this scene where the sisters walk up to the castle entrance and leave their bikes right in front of the door on the main pathway, I was like look at these animals. I laughed so hard. I didn't quite buy that Lacey Chabert and Ali Hardiman were sisters, but they had great chemistry. When Ali Hardiman's character just blurted out that Lacey Chabert's character had to go to the bathroom because she was at a stage eleven to Stuart Townsend I laughed so hard. We don't normally get bathroom jokes in Hallmark movies. Usually these type of movies on Hallmark are not as witty and more schmaltzy. This movie had that as well, but better balanced. I don't know what it was exactly, but I was charmed. Honestly I love this movie. While this isn't exactly a royal movie, it's royal adjacent as he's an Earl and all. I'm counting it. Side note, Hallmark all star Paul Campbell co-wrote this movie. That man is all over Hallmark this season.
My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
