🎄 2021 Christmas Binge Watch Movie #33 🎄

It's taken seven years but Hallmark has finally made a sequel to its beloved holiday classic "The Nine Lives of Christmas."It's like no time has past between the last time Brandon Routh and Kimberly Sustad starred together as these characters. They really do pick up were they left off. I fully admit I had high expectations going in as I love the original, and I just rewatched it before this one, but I really shouldn't have. I like this movie, I think it's good, these guys are still super adorable together, but it's doesn't really have the same magic spark as the original film had. Maybe it's because they kinda remade the first movie all over again with some tweaks. I do appreciate that they got most of the original cast back, and the continuity is pretty much the same except for two very minor moments. Like Marilee's sister couldn't take her cat in because she had four dogs, and now she has no dogs and a kid. Like did she give them away? Did they all die, cause that'd be fishy if four dogs died in that short of a span. The other one was the Chief said in the first movie that his wife was allergic to cats, and for this movie they're adopting some. Either the Chief straight up lied, or just spent a good part of his married years thinking his wife was allergic. Honestly the writers probably forgot or just ignored it. The fact we got this much continuity after all these years is amazing. Zachary is still fixing his house and Marilee is still hiding how much ice cream she buys at the grocery store.

Alright, so I can't believe they broke up this couple. They should've been together. I'm sorry I'm holding that grudge. Zachary is still firefighter, and Ambrose is still around being his BFF. Marilee is now a vet with her own practice in Miami that she runs with her boyfriend Miles. Say what? Any who Miles ain't that great of a boyfriend, and after five years away Marilee comes home for Christmas. Marilee has a new cat, Duchess, cause Queenie went to kitty heaven. The first thing that happens is that she bumps into Zachary. The plot of this movie is that somebody leaves nine kittens at the firehouse, so now they gotta find them all homes. That it's, that's the plot, oh and this couple has to find it's way back together. It's just that the first movie indicates that all their issues and troubles were behind them and here we go with this movie saying that they still had them. We've got adorable cats that nobody can put down or stop petting which is completely believable and a little distracting. I had to laugh out loud over product placement, the sisters are baking a delicious cake with a giant tub of Daisy's Sour Cream. Made me laugh so hard. The first movie it was a giant canister of Folgers. Like they can never have the small size. Paul Campbell makes a cameo probably because he and Kimberly Sustad are good friends. I will admit it's a bit weird, they meet over a kitten and stare at each other, it's like they both found the loves of their lives. Their chemistry leaps off even when they don't try. This movie is fine, it's cute, and Brandon Routh's hair looked like a helmet. It was ever unmoving. Not as great as the first film, so don't go in expecting it, bit it's still a satisfying sequel that kinda has the same ending as the first film. The chemistry is still there, and it's an enjoyable watch wether you've seen the original or not. Both movies sit very well as stand alones.

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
