Christmas in July 2022 - Movie #20 πŸ©±πŸ–πŸŽ„

This movie starts with a lady all smiles telling our dancing lady lead that’s she’s old and is fired. Dancing lady is like well I still wanna dance cause I loves it, and is told to get with the program and think of teaching or upper management. They all smiles and hugs, but in reality it’d be like bitch you old and how dare you. Take time off from being fired because of your age and enjoy Christmas. This lady is like in her late thirties, she's too old to dance. What a way to start a movie.

Deirdre Mullins had a pretty decent American accent. She’s not playing an American though cuz they clearly state that her father was Irish by her and that she moved to America with her mom when she was little. So the accent is really of someone who immigrated somewhere as a child, and absorbed the dialect. Nice touch. Any who, dancing lady goes to England to help her aunt with her dancing school, put together a regency ball in order to get the house approved as a historical landmark, fall in love with an awkward historian, make serious life decisions, plus celebrate Christmas. Aunt Bridget’s man is the dude from Silent Witness. And no I don’t remember anybody's name anymore. I never could really. Was looking forward to how they’d do this regency ball, but it’s a little lame. They don’t even dress up in costume. Tight budget. No real chemistry in the main romance. The movie takes place on three sets, and maybe thrice outside. With all my rambling done somewhat, I found this movie to be delightful to my surprise. I really had a good time watching. You think you would win over the committee not with a Christmas ball, but actually having the house be historic in someway. Bonkers. There’s a shirtless scene so you know this guy had to work out and not eat for like two weeks for a minute of screen time skin. Nerdy awkward history professors need to have baby abs you know. You'd think this movie would've filmed somewhere in England due to the cast, but nope, they filmed in Belgrade, Serbia. This movie didn’t take itself too seriously, it had fun with it's premise, and I really liked it.

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
